This Privacy Policy explains how ZanjaConnect (“we”, “us”, or “the Platform”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal data when you use our Android app and related services at zanjaconnect.com. By using the Platform, you agree to this Policy. Related contractual terms are in our Terms & Conditions.
2. Data we collect
We collect and process personal data necessary to operate the Platform, including:
- Account information: full name, email address, phone number, password, user role (customer or provider) and gender.
- Profile information: profile photo, bio, service category, experience, rates, availability and coverage area.
- Location data: coordinates used for provider search, booking addresses and live order tracking when you use location-based features.
- Booking and transaction data: service requests, order status, notes, chat messages, reviews, ratings, payment amounts and receipts.
- Photos and files: images or documents you upload (for example profile photos or KYC files).
- Provider verification (KYC): identity documents such as national ID or professional certificates submitted for review.
- Device and session data: push notification tokens, authentication tokens and technical logs needed to secure your account.
3. How we use your data
We use your personal data to:
- Create and manage your account, including email and SMS verification.
- Match customers with nearby providers and facilitate bookings.
- Enable in-app messaging between customers and providers for active jobs.
- Send service notifications, booking updates and security alerts.
- Verify provider identity and maintain platform safety.
- Process payments and keep transaction records.
- Handle disputes, fraud prevention and customer support requests.
- Improve reliability, security and performance of the Platform.
4. Legal basis
We process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the ZanjaConnect service), to comply with legal obligations, for legitimate interests such as security and fraud prevention, and where applicable based on your consent (for example location or KYC features).
5. Sharing with third parties
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:
- Other users on the Platform: customers and providers involved in an active booking may see contact details and job location needed to complete the service.
- SMS provider: to send verification codes and notifications to your phone number.
- Email provider: to send verification codes, password resets and support correspondence.
- Push notification services: to deliver app notifications to your device.
- Payment processors: to complete mobile-money or other payment flows you initiate.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers: to store and secure Platform data.
We may also disclose data when required by law or to protect the rights, safety and security of users and the Platform.
6. Data retention
We retain account data while your account is active. Transaction and booking records may be kept for legal, accounting and dispute-resolution purposes after a job is completed. KYC documents are retained for as long as needed to verify provider status and meet regulatory requirements. When you delete your account, we will deactivate your profile and remove or anonymise personal data where retention is no longer required.
7. Your rights
Depending on applicable law (including the Zambia Data Protection Act where it applies), you may have the right to:
- Access and update your profile information through the app.
- Request correction of inaccurate data by contacting support.
- Request deletion of your account by contacting support.
- Object to or restrict certain processing where the law allows.

8. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including password hashing, token-based authentication, and encrypted connections (HTTPS) in production. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use a strong password and keep your login credentials confidential.
9. Children
ZanjaConnect is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
